Owning our own business has always been something that my husband & I
have wanted to do for us and our family. The question always was, "What
kind of business?". We researched many different franchises and looked into
multiple business opportunities, but found franchises too limiting for our
creativeness and business ideals. So we knew we would have to start with
something we had some knowledge of and something we would really enjoy.
Now for anyone that knows me they know that I love to find a bargain. I am
that person that scours the classifieds, garage sales, warehouse sales,
closeouts and consignment stores to find and save our family money. I have
always had the philosophy a penny saved is a penny earned. Friends and family
were always amazed at the bargains I could find and the beautiful things I would
come home with. Of course my husband didn't mind that I took great pleasure in
saving us money, especially when we had our daughter Olivia. When setting up an
initial budget to get all of the basic baby needs, I was able to save ourselves
70% of what we thought we might spend when looking at catalogue and flyer
pricing of baby items. Having visited many different consignment and bargain
stores over the years, I have observed things that I really liked and things
that I thought could use improvement. Then one night as I was trying to fall
asleep it dawned on me, I would be great at running my own consignment store.
Initially we thought of only opening a store that catered to young children,
but after doing some extensive research we expand our idea to include infants,
children, maternity wear, junior men & women, accessories and furniture. We
also found that bigger is better. One of the biggest complaints I had when
shopping these stores is I often had to go to several stores to find what I
wanted. Many shops are small have limited space for strollers, little variety,
no change rooms, no bathrooms or change tables, and really didn't promote a
comfortable shopping experience. So when we went looking for a space to set up
shop we had a long laundry list of must haves to make sure we had lots of space
for a large selection of products, change rooms, wide isles for strollers,
parking, children friendly play area, change table & bathrooms as well as
many other amenities.
I am proud to say that we have accomplished all of our goals with opening
Celebs and will continue to improve with our customers help and suggestions. Our
main goal is to make everyone that walks through our doors feel like the star
that they are, and save lots of money while doing so!!!
Thanks to all that have helped make Celebs a success!!!
